pyspark.sql.DataFrame.createGlobalTempView

DataFrame.createGlobalTempView(name: str) → None[source]

Creates a global temporary view with this DataFrame.

The lifetime of this temporary view is tied to this Spark application. throws TempTableAlreadyExistsException, if the view name already exists in the catalog.

New in version 2.1.0.

Changed in version 3.4.0: Supports Spark Connect.

Parameters
namestr

Name of the view.

Examples

Create a global temporary view.

>>> df = spark.createDataFrame([(2, "Alice"), (5, "Bob")], schema=["age", "name"])
>>> df.createGlobalTempView("people")
>>> df2 = spark.sql("SELECT * FROM global_temp.people")
>>> sorted(df.collect()) == sorted(df2.collect())
True

Throws an exception if the global temporary view already exists.

>>> df.createGlobalTempView("people")

AnalysisException: "Temporary table 'people' already exists;"
>>> spark.catalog.dropGlobalTempView("people")
